AI-powered ERP isn’t just the next step in digital transformation, it’s the game-changer redefining how businesses operate, compete, and grow.

In an era where speed, intelligence, and adaptability are everything, companies aren’t asking if they need smarter systems, they’re racing to implement ERP platforms that think, learn, and act.

These next-gen solutions don’t just streamline operations, they anticipate challenges, automate decisions, and evolve with your business in real time. And those still clinging to legacy systems? They risk falling behind in a world that’s moving forward fast.

As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries, ERP—the long-standing digital backbone of enterprise operations—is getting a major upgrade. But this shift isn’t just about faster reporting or streamlined workflows. It’s about unlocking a whole new, intelligent way of running your business.

So let’s take a closer look at how AI-powered ERP systems are redefining modern operations. And why falling behind could mean more than just missed opportunities.

What Exactly Is an AI-Powered ERP?

Think of a traditional ERP as a system that pulls everything—finance, HR, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, CRM, into one place. It connects the dots across departments and keeps the business running smoothly.

Now add artificial intelligence into the mix.

An AI-powered ERP doesn’t just store or process data, it understands it. It learns patterns, predicts what’s likely to happen next, and even suggests the best course of action. It’s like shifting from reactive decision-making to proactive, data-driven strategy powered by machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.

Why Old-School ERP Systems Aren’t Enough Anymore

Traditional ERPs are great at collecting data, but not so great at making sense of it. Reports can be slow, processes rigid, and customization both time-consuming and costly.

And in a business climate where customer demands are higher, supply chains are more complex, and competition is global, companies can’t afford to just be digital—they need to be intelligent.

That’s where AI comes in.

“ERP used to be the engine. Now, AI is the driver.”
— CIO, Fortune 500 Manufacturing Firm

What Sets AI-Powered ERP Apart?

1. Smarter Decisions with Predictive Analytics

Instead of reacting to problems after they happen, AI-powered ERPs help you anticipate them. By analyzing historical trends and real-time data, they can predict product demand, flag potential fraud, spot stock shortages, or even forecast revenue dips.

Take this real-world example: a global retail brand used AI-enhanced ERP to better forecast demand at the regional level—and cut inventory costs by 23%. Not something you’d get with spreadsheets or monthly reports.

2. Hyper-Automation: Beyond Task Automation

We’re not just talking about automating the basics. AI-driven ERPs go further by automating decision-making itself.

Approving invoices without manual review

Recommending top candidates in hiring pipelines

Adjusting prices based on real-time competitor data

The result? Fewer errors, faster turnaround times, and employees freed up to focus on high-impact work.

3. Talk to Your ERP (Literally)

With natural language interfaces built in, managers no longer have to dig through dashboards.

Just ask:

“What were our three lowest-performing regions last quarter?”

And the system responds in plain language—instantly.

This kind of conversational ERP makes insights accessible to everyone, not just data analysts.

4. Systems That Learn and Adapt

AI-powered ERPs get smarter over time. If a supplier keeps delivering late, the system flags them. If expenses spike in one category, it recommends action—before month-end reconciliation.

It’s like having a digital assistant that’s always learning how to better run your operations.

5. Tailored Experiences for Every User

AI customizes dashboards and reports based on your role and behavior. A CFO might see profitability simulations, while a warehouse manager gets real-time inventory alerts—each one optimized for what matters most to them.

ERP In Action

Manufacturing: IoT sensors feed data to AI-driven ERPs, predicting machine breakdowns days in advance, reducing downtime by 40% or more.

Retail: Customer behavior, weather patterns, and social sentiment drive dynamic pricing and inventory planning.

Logistics: AI reroutes deliveries based on traffic, weather, and vehicle health, saving on fuel and improving delivery accuracy.

Healthcare: A hospital network adopted AI-powered ERP to streamline patient billing and inventory management. The system’s predictive analytics reduced stockouts of critical supplies by 40%, ensuring uninterrupted care.

Financial Services: A multinational bank used AI-powered ERP to detect fraudulent transactions in real time, saving millions annually by identifying and mitigating risks before they escalated.

What’s Holding Companies Back?

Even with all these benefits, switching to an AI-powered ERP isn’t plug-and-play. Here’s what to watch out for:

1. Legacy Systems Aren’t Built for This

Many companies still rely on outdated ERP platforms that weren’t designed with AI in mind. Upgrading can be a major investment, technically and financially.

2. Garbage In, Garbage Out

AI relies on clean, consistent data. If your data’s messy or siloed, your insights will be too. Strong data governance is a must.

3. Getting Teams on Board

Employees need more than just training—they need to trust AI’s recommendations. It’s not about replacing human judgment, but enhancing it. That mindset shift takes time.

4. So Many Vendors, So Many Options

Choosing the right fit means asking smart, strategic questions. Kreyon Systems takes a design centric approach that is outcome oriented to make ERP deliver promised ROI.

How to Choose the Right AI ERP for Your Business

Before signing on the dotted line, ask:

Does the platform have built-in AI, or just bolt-on tools?

Can it handle custom workflows and scale as we grow?

Is its AI explainable, or is it a mysterious black box?

Does it support our industry’s unique needs?

How well does it integrate with our existing systems?

The best AI-ERP solutions today are modular, cloud-native, and built to evolve with your business—not box you in.

Looking Ahead: From Automation to Autonomy

The next wave of ERP goes beyond automation. We’re entering the era of autonomous systems—where the ERP doesn’t just report or suggest, it acts:

Negotiating vendor contracts based on pre-set conditions

Rolling out compliance updates without manual input

Self-optimizing supply chains in response to global events

Recommending new markets based on predictive insights

This isn’t sci-fi. It’s happening nowand it’s accelerating.

As AI continues to advance, your ERP could become your company’s strategic co-pilot, not just its record-keeper.

Final Thoughts: AI-ERP Isn’t a Luxury. It’s a Necessity.

AI-powered ERP is separating the innovators from the rest. The reward? Not just operational efficiency, but smarter strategy, real-time responsiveness, and long-term competitive edge.

But waiting too long could cost you, not just in dollars, but in missed insights, slower reactions, and falling behind.

In today’s economy, data is your capital and intelligence is your currency. An AI-powered ERP isn’t just another tool, it’s your business’s brain.

In the dynamic landscape of modern business, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems stand as monumental pillars supporting operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and sustainable growth.

However, the investment in ERP is substantial, and thus, maximizing ERP ROI (return on investment) becomes not just a goal but a necessity.

Implementing an ERP system is a significant investment for any business, promising streamlined operations, enhanced visibility, and better decision-making.

However, the real challenge lies in Maximizing ERP ROI. Achieving a high return on investment from an ERP system is not just about installation; it involves strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement.

To truly benefit from this investment, businesses need to focus on Maximizing ERP ROI. Maximizing ERP ROI refers to extracting the highest possible return from your ERP investment by ensuring that the system is not only implemented but fully utilized across all business functions.

Whether you’re in manufacturing, retail, or any other industry, the right ERP system can streamline operations, improve decision-making, and enhance productivity.

In this comprehensive guide, we will explore actionable strategies, best practices, and key considerations to maximize your ERP ROI. We’ll break down the steps you can take to ensure that your investment delivers long-term value and drives growth for your organization.

What is ERP ROI and Why Does It Matter?

Before diving into strategies for maximizing ERP ROI, it’s important to define what ERP ROI is and why it matters.

Defining ERP ROI

ERP ROI refers to the financial return or benefits that a business gains from implementing an ERP system. It is typically measured by comparing the costs associated with implementing and maintaining the ERP system against the benefits, such as cost savings, efficiency improvements, and increased revenue generation.

Common metrics used to assess ERP ROI include:

Cost savings: Reduced operational costs due to improved processes and automation.
Increased productivity: Employees can complete tasks faster and with fewer errors.
Operational efficiency: Reduction in process times, improved resource utilization.
Improved decision-making: With real-time data, businesses can make more informed and timely decisions.
Enhanced customer satisfaction: Faster order fulfillment and better communication with customers can increase customer loyalty.
Compliance and Risk Management: Streamlined compliance processes and reduced risk exposure.
Scalability: Ability to grow without proportional increases in operational complexity.
Customer Satisfaction: Enhanced service delivery and response times.

Why Maximizing ERP ROI Matters

Maximizing ERP ROI is crucial because ERP systems represent a significant financial investment for most businesses. Without careful planning and effective use, companies may struggle to recoup these costs.

On the other hand, businesses that optimize their ERP systems can achieve greater operational efficiency, better decision-making, and a competitive edge in the market.

Ultimately, maximizing your ERP ROI ensures that your business is getting the most out of this powerful tool, driving long-term growth and profitability.

Strategies for Maximizing ERP ROI

Now that we understand the importance of maximizing ERP ROI, let’s dive into actionable strategies that can help you get the most out of your ERP system.

1. Pre-Implementation Planning for ERP

One of the first and most important steps in maximizing ERP ROI is choosing the right system. Not all ERP solutions are created equal, and selecting one that aligns with your business requirements is critical.

What are your primary goals? Is it cost reduction, process optimization, or perhaps market expansion? Define these clearly as they will guide your implementation and post-implementation strategies.

Assess your needs: Identify the key business functions that need improvement (e.g., finance, inventory management, supply chain) and select an ERP system that can address those specific needs.
Scalability: Ensure that the ERP system can scale as your business grows, avoiding costly upgrades or replacements in the future.
User experience: Choose an ERP that is user-friendly and easy for your team to adopt. The more intuitive the system, the faster employees will be able to leverage its capabilities.

By aligning your ERP solution with your business needs, you lay a solid foundation for achieving a high ROI.

2. Customization vs. Standardization

Balance customization with the benefits of standard processes. Over-customization can lead to higher costs and complexities in updates.

Proper training and change management are essential to ensure that everyone in the organization is on board with the new system.

Customized system: Tailor the ERP to your specific business needs and workflows. Map desired business outcomes with implementation plan.
Thorough Testing: Conduct rigorous testing to identify and resolve issues before go-live. Hire experienced professionals to oversee the process.
Comprehensive training: Provide employees with training sessions tailored to their roles. This ensures that everyone understands how to use the ERP system to its full potential.
Change management: ERP implementations often involve significant changes to existing processes. It’s essential to manage these changes carefully by communicating the benefits of the new system and providing ongoing support.

Effective training and change management will lead to better system adoption, improved productivity, and ultimately, a higher ERP ROI.

3. Focus on Data Quality and Integration

The success of an ERP system is directly linked to the quality and accuracy of the data it processes. If your data is incomplete, inconsistent, or inaccurate, your ERP system won’t be able to deliver meaningful insights, affecting your ROI.

Data cleansing: Before implementing the ERP system, ensure that your existing data is clean, accurate, and up-to-date. This can involve removing duplicate records and correcting inconsistencies.
Data migration: Plan meticulously for data migration. Poor data quality can doom an ERP system. Clean, normalize, and validate data before migration.

In the dynamic landscape of supply chain management, adaptability is a prized asset. AI-driven ERP systems excel in adaptive planning, offering businesses the agility needed to respond to unforeseen events.

Whether it’s sudden changes in customer preferences, supply chain disruptions, or unforeseen market trends, AI continuously analyzes incoming data and adjusts plans accordingly.

For instance, an AI-infused ERP system can automatically reroute shipments based on real-time traffic conditions, weather forecasts, or even geopolitical events.

This level of adaptive planning ensures that businesses can maintain optimal efficiency even in the face of unexpected challenges. This adaptive planning empowers businesses to:

Quickly reroute shipments around unforeseen obstacles, minimizing delays and ensuring deliveries stay on schedule.
Dynamically adjust production schedules to match changing demand, avoiding costly overproduction and stockouts.
Negotiate with suppliers in real-time based on market fluctuations, securing better deals and protecting margins.
Optimize pricing strategies on the fly to remain competitive in a dynamic market.

Reducing Risks and Enhancing Resilience

Supply chain disruptions, such as natural disasters, economic downturns, or global health crises, are inevitable. However, AI-driven ERP systems empower businesses to mitigate risks and enhance resilience.

Through predictive analytics, these systems can identify potential vulnerabilities within the supply chain and recommend strategies to minimize the impact of disruptions.

Moreover, AI can enhance supplier relationship management by evaluating supplier performance in real-time. This allows businesses to identify and address potential issues before they escalate, ensuring a more stable and reliable supply chain.

The Human-AI Collaboration: Fostering Efficiency and Innovation

The true magic of AI-powered ERP lies in its predictive capabilities. Machine learning algorithms analyze vast amounts of data, uncovering trends and anomalies invisible to the human eye.

AI-driven ERP systems are not meant to replace human expertise; instead, they act as invaluable tools that complement human decision-making.

By automating routine tasks, such as data analysis and inventory management, AI frees up valuable human resources to focus on strategic planning, creativity, and innovation.

This symbiotic relationship between humans and AI fosters a culture of continuous improvement and adaptation.

In the dynamic and competitive landscape of the US business sector, staying ahead requires a strategic approach to streamline operations and enhance overall productivity. One of the key tools enabling businesses to achieve this is Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

ERP modules play a pivotal role in integrating diverse business processes, fostering collaboration, and providing real-time insights.

In this comprehensive article, we’ll delve into the top ERP modules that are crucial for US businesses seeking operational excellence and sustained growth.

According to a study by Statista, the ERP software market in the United States is expected to reach $23.49 billion in 2023. This growth is being driven by the increasing adoption of cloud-based ERP systems and the need for businesses to improve efficiency and compliance.

Finance Management: The Backbone of Business Success

Efficient financial management is the cornerstone of any successful enterprise. ERP modules dedicated to finance management empower businesses to handle their monetary transactions seamlessly.

From automating invoicing processes to providing detailed financial reporting, these modules enable businesses to make informed decisions.

For US businesses, compliance with the intricate web of financial regulations is crucial, and finance management modules within ERP systems ensure adherence while optimizing financial processes.

Supply Chain Management: Navigating the Global Market

In an era of interconnected global markets, effective supply chain management is paramount. ERP modules specializing in supply chain management enable businesses to optimize inventory levels, enhance demand forecasting, and strengthen supplier relationships.

For US businesses engaged in international trade, these modules offer a competitive edge by ensuring a streamlined flow of goods and services, reducing costs, and increasing overall efficiency.

Human Resources: Nurturing a Productive Workforce

Managing human resources efficiently is vital for fostering a satisfied and productive workforce. ERP modules for Human Resources (HR) automate critical processes, including payroll, benefits administration, and employee onboarding.

In the US, where labor laws are stringent, HR modules within ERP systems help businesses stay compliant while creating a positive work environment that contributes to employee satisfaction and retention.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Building Lasting Connections

In an increasingly customer-centric business landscape, CRM modules within ERP systems are indispensable. These modules centralize customer data, automate marketing campaigns, and streamline sales processes.

US businesses can leverage CRM functionalities to provide personalized customer experiences, enhance customer satisfaction, and build long-lasting relationships that drive repeat business.

Manufacturing Management: Optimizing Production Processes

For businesses involved in manufacturing, ERP modules dedicated to production planning and control are essential. These modules optimize production schedules, manage resources efficiently, and ensure the timely delivery of quality products.

This is particularly beneficial for industries that play a significant role in the US manufacturing sector, contributing to the nation’s economic growth.

E-commerce Integration: Adapting to the Digital Frontier

With the surge in online commerce, integrating ERP modules with e-commerce platforms has become crucial. These modules streamline order processing, inventory management, and customer data synchronization.

For US businesses with both physical and online storefronts, e-commerce integration modules provide a unified platform, ensuring a seamless and consistent customer experience across all channels.

Business Intelligence and Analytics: Data-Driven Decision-Making

In the era of big data, ERP modules offering robust business intelligence and analytics functionalities are indispensable. These modules provide real-time insights into key performance indicators, enabling US businesses to make informed decisions, identify trends, and stay ahead of the competition.

Harnessing the power of data analytics allows businesses to adapt to market changes swiftly and strategically.

Compliance and Risk Management: Navigating the Regulatory Landscape

Operating within a regulatory environment requires businesses to prioritize compliance and risk management. ERP modules dedicated to these aspects help businesses adhere to industry regulations, mitigate risks, and ensure data security.

In sectors such as finance, healthcare, and manufacturing, where compliance is paramount, these modules provide a robust framework for navigating complexities while maintaining operational integrity.

Choosing the Right Combination for Success

Selecting the right combination of ERP modules is a strategic decision that can significantly impact a business’s efficiency and competitiveness. US businesses, in particular, can benefit from a tailored approach that addresses their specific industry requirements and challenges.

The integration of finance management, supply chain optimization, CRM, manufacturing, e-commerce, business intelligence, and compliance modules creates a holistic ERP system that serves as a powerful engine for sustained growth.

Conclusion: A Roadmap to Success

As US businesses navigate the complexities of the modern business landscape, the implementation of a comprehensive ERP system becomes a crucial strategic move. The top ERP modules outlined in this guide provide a roadmap for businesses seeking operational excellence, enhanced productivity, and sustained growth.

A custom ERP is uniquely tailored for your organisation to help your company run its business functions using technology and automation. As businesses reinvent themselves with new business models and technology-driven processes, a custom ERP has become the requisite need.
As per the Business Futures report 2021, the changes taking place in the business world globally have forced companies to rethink the what, where and why of their existing

operational models. Here’s a look at how a custom ERP can you build a digital organisation to keep up with modern business and workplace trends:

1. Customer Demand for Online Sales & Services:

The way your organisation generates leads, acquires customers, provides them support and service is often unique. The lifecycle management of customer journey can be tailored as per your organisational needs.

The customer experience, prioritisation, retention and referral process can be specifically developed for your organisation. Moreover, your secret sauce is built into the custom ERP to give your company a competitive edge. It could be location sensitive filters for lead generation, qualifying leads or companies based on specific criterion or delivering superior customer support, a customer EPR can be handy.

Companies are evaluating new business models to provide online sales and subscription support to their clients. They are experimenting with a complete online sales and support model where customer experience is the top priority. An ERP can be used to create a custom solution for managing customers from the first to the latest interaction with your company.

Automation of business functions, building integrated systems and increasing customer visibility leads to improved customer experience & hence increased cashflows for a business.

2. Digitally Enabled Workforce

Businesses after COVID rely on geographically dispersed teams for delivering their products and services. Working across locations, geographies and timezones has become a new normal for companies.

As companies work towards striking a balance between their offline and online teams, a custom ERP can help develop the right collaboration among teams. A custom ERP is sensitive to the needs of the organisations, improve data privacy, confidentiality and delivery of projects for clients. At the same time, it improves visibility of work and promotes productivity for its teams.

The customer ERP helps companies manage onboarding of new employees, provide them with basic project trainings and assist them with the know how on delivering their best. A custom ERP creates a uniform structure on deliverables, project deadlines and work needs for all employees. It can create a proactive communication platform where teams work together to remove hurdles, without distractions to deliver the right results.

A custom ERP can use automation to aid employee productivity. For e.g. a sales person can use a company template to send sales proposals to prospects, they can also use automation to get all the required approvals for price or time estimates etc.

3. Migration of Assets to Cloud

A customer ERP can help to consolidate the data footprint of an organisation. While the companies are moving online, not having the right data or organisational assets in digital form can be an impediment to business decisions.

A custom ERP brings about integrated data functions across business units. The company can decide their assets and data to improve their operational efficiencies. The data security, supply chain automation and moving to cloud has helped businesses to operate with unprecedented speeds.

ERP organises and integrates all the functional units of a business namely manufacturing, marketing, lead prospecting, HR, finance, accounting and management reporting etc. The company can take a call on the most important functions that need to be managed with ERP and prioritize moving them to the cloud.

A key consideration in moving data and other organisational assets to the cloud lies in migration of the legacy systems. For e.g. if an organisation uses an accounting software for regulatory reporting & decides to move to a custom ERP. The legacy accounting data can be migrated to the custom ERP. The custom ERP software provides tools to help with the data migration & support the processes for it.

4. Changing Customer Needs
Adapting to the changing customer needs is a challenge for most companies. The customer needs change quite fast and they have been exaggerated by the pandemic too. The disruptions in the supply chain and limitations in workforce mobility make it even harder for companies to respond fast. This is where a custom ERP can save the day for companies.

A custom ERP creates a digital organisation that is adaptive to the needs of its customers. The ERP can predict the customer behaviours using AI & ML algorithms, it can also help companies work proactively with their vendors to replenish their inventories to meet customer demands.

An ERP creates a data driven organisation where all key business decisions are backed by accurate data. A digital organisation uses technologies and automations to gain efficiencies. Businesses need to be able to adapt to changing market dynamics fast and a digital organisation is capable of dealing with the market disruptions quicker. The supply chain visibility and key operations can be tracked using the online ERP, machine learning models and algorithms are also useful in creating value chains.

5. Innovative Customisations

A custom ERP can help your organisation to build tailored business processes that streamline your operations. It can bring out the best in your organisation according to its strengths.

Many healthcare organisations launched online check-ups and doctor appointments. The diagnosis, prescription and follow-up with patients can now be done using chat based tools for a wide range of patients. A custom ERP can be developed by an organisation to unleash innovative streaks out of its employees and serve customers using these innovations.

A custom ERP can have modules and functionality to leverage organisation wide creativity. An integrated software makes employees more productive too. Learning too many different application softwares can be counter productive for employees, especially those who are new to your organisation. An integrated ERP can make workflow easier and increase productivity leading to more time for employees to innovate.

An ERP can channelise the creativity and instutionalize innovation to meet the hard pressing needs of the business. Building virtual supply chains, developing omnichannel models for reaching more customer, personalised customer experiences etc. are some of ways innovative customisations are benefitting the companies.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software provides an integrated business management solution that can steer your business in the right direction. But careful evaluation of the features, your requirements and assessment of the needs play a cardinal role in its implementation.

With the business intelligence and automation capabilities of the modern day software, your organisation can leapfrog to a different zone altogether. Business management can be powered by software intelligence like never before with real time data, integrated solutions and results you want.

Here we look at some of the business intelligence features and capabilities that can create a positive footprint for your organisation.

1. Automated Data Collection & Analysis

An ERP software collects data from all business units. Many times data is collected from different sources & solutions. The data collection process can be tedious and result in discrepancies, if not done in realtime.

Today ERP softwares can automate most of the data collection efforts through sensors, voice recognition systems, QR codes etc. The automated data collection can effectively aid the real time analysis and forecasts for better business decisions.

ERP software with advanced data capturing capabilities reduces manual load for entering data. Whether it is client data, business operations, sales or other processes, automated data collection results in great productivity and empowers an organisation.

Alexa, Cortana, Google voice assistants are good examples of how companies can capture data in automated ways. Starbucks also puts QR codes in all its products where customers can access these codes for information. The customer information is also collected with these for enabling sales and marketing.

2. Visualise Trends

Once your ERP software is integrated to all data sources and interconnected with all digital facets of your business, it can provide visual trends for users as per their roles. The visual summary of the data needs to be dynamic and highlight the contextual part for every role.

Today softwares equipped with business intelligence features provide dynamic dashboards that seamlessly integrate into existing data sources & uncover hidden patterns for users.

These systems are capable of presenting the most critical information, detect actionable trends and produce what if analysis based on historical data. The data trends are visually summarised using charts and tables for users on their dashboards.

Visualise Trends

3. Integrated Technology & Experience

ERP can provide an integrated technology platform for the company to manage its operations. The experience for employees and customers should be consistent across channels. An ERP software can bridge the different media channels and business units. It can act as a single source of truth.

An ERP can help to consolidate all the technology solutions, softwares and apps in an integrated experience. This platform can run the entire business and bring everyone to a common platform.

Using an integrated platform can help to improve business performance significantly. A good ERP system allows you to automate the key processes and functions, enabling greater control and better administration. An integrated platform helps companies to implement consistent policies, create a unified digital ecosystem and drive operations.

4. Scheduling Reports

Reporting is an integral part of any software. The intelligence with which the system can report and present information makes it highly soughted.

Since executives are busy, they can create their own reports tailored to their specifications. The reports can also be scheduled as per the preference of users. So, you can schedule a report at a given frequency and the report will be delivered accordingly.

The key information and management reports can be scheduled for the top stakeholders. The system automatically delivers these reports every month or quarter. A comparison with previous period, ranking the performance of various teams, business metrics etc can also be done using advanced these reporting tools.

Scheduling Reports

5. Exporting Data for Business Functions

How easy is it to export data you need from your system? For e.g. if you were finalising accounts or payroll data, does your software provide you options for exporting all accounting or report reports in a single click.

Exporting data for business functions makes software highly usable. Flexibility and customisations for importing, exporting and using data as per business functions make ERP highly usable.

Today softwares have inbuilt intelligence in the way information is presented in data grids. These grids provide easy options for visualising data as per business needs, provide highly flexible sorting, advanced filters and searching options for users.

6. APIs & Interoperability

The ERP software must be able to interact with other programs and applications. An API allows the ERP software to talk to external applications. Today interoperability with other domain and industry specific applications is needed. ERPs can achieve this with an API interface. The external programs and applications can access ERP data using APIs.

The third party applications with authorised users and permissions can access the data from the ERPs. For e.g. an authorised ecommerce application for your business can access inventory data and update sales information etc in the ERP using APIs. The ERP can return the data to the API requests after authorisations. Any authorised client application can integrate and access the ERP using these APIs to improve interoperability.

API & Interoperability

7. Customisations & Upgradation Plan

ERP softwares handle the most complex functionality and integrations in business operations. The sales workflow, product manufacturing, quotations, purchases, expenses management, CRM, accounting etc. are few to name.

However, most businesses needs tailored and customised implementation of some features. For e.g. your payroll processing may require you to handle specific compliance as per your state. You may need an industry specific feature & so on.

An ERP must provide a blue print for a business to be able to tailor the system & customised it as per their needs. An ERP implementation should also help the business improve its plan and continuity. It must continuously evolve with the latest technological updations with a long term roadmap.

ERP software implementation requires a long-term technology roadmap, thorough need analysis and strong execution expertise to deliver great solutions for business. Kreyon Systems is an ERP Software Company providing end to end ERP software implementation for organisations.
The Information technology revolution has put India on the world map. The software services and products are fuelling the country’s economy and GDP like never before.

India is now the sixth largest economy in the world by nominal GDP and third largest by purchasing power parity. In 2018, India’s economy became the world’s fastest growing major economy surpassing China as per International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The IT or software industry contributes nearly eight percent of the total Indian GDP as of 2018. Two decades ago in 1998, the total contribution was 1.2 percent.

As per the report from IBEF, the IT Services sector in 2018 accounts for $86 billion in revenue. The total revenue is pegged at $170 billion dollars. Clearly, the growth indicates a big push for Indian software products and services companies.

Brief History

Brief-History

It may be recalled that Indian IT Services industry was born in Mumbai in 1967 with a Tata group company. The first export zone was set up in SEEPZ, Mumbai. Today, India has many modern IT parks which rank among the very best in the world.

There were companies like TCS, Patni computer systems, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, that powered Indian software services industry in the eighties and nineties to build a phenomenal story of ambition and growth.

The Indian IT industry has come a long way from its early days and now earns over $170 billion in revenue with a presence in more than 80 countries.

The emerging technologies and digitisation of industries are now powering more Indian companies to greater heights. With the push for digitisation across businesses and industries, the software industry in India may well be poised for its best years ahead.

The ecommerce boom and the digital revolution have already made some of these Indian companies earn the coveted Unicorn status. Companies like Flipkart, Ola, Paytm, Quikr etc have given new thrust to the Indian growth story.

The emerging technologies and software products in India are drawing major funds from venture capitalists around the world like Accel Partners, Helion Venture partners, Softbank, Sequoia Capital, Nexus Venture partners etc.

The Transition Phase

The software and technology industry is changing fast. Today artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced analytics, mobility and cloud based technologies are driving the agenda for the software demand.

The obsolete models of the industry are no longer relevant in the modern world. The incumbents of the industry are trying to adapt to the new spectrum of technology. There is a resurgence of companies with fresh ideas, niche offerings and software product development expertise.

It is no longer big vs small but more about fast vs slow in the industry. Even smaller software companies have equal chances of grabbing the big deals and catapult themselves into global recognition.
